The Verdict

What is a blog about food without some guidelines?  Each week Jon and I will deliberate and decide on a set of ratings for that week's breakfast.  Please note these are not absolute and in no way should be taken as a reflection on the country or it's cuisine, after all most breakfasts will be made by yours truly and can only be an approximation of the real thing.

There will be 5 categories and the breakfast will receive a rating out of 5 cheerios.

1.  Ease of Preparation:  This category is especially important for breakfast.  When you wake up you want to be able to "Break the Fast" without too much tricky technical cooking and generally within 2 hours.  Any longer than that and it really should be called a mid-morning snack, not to mention I get grumpy without a timely bite of brekkie....

2.  Degree of Separation:  This is not really a quality rating but is more to give readers an idea of how foreign the food may be to them.  For the purposes of this experiment, the higher the better here.

3.  Guestability:  We love Toronto and we love to have house guests.  One of the most satisfying things about entertaining is whipping up a delicious breakfast before the guests even say hello to the day.  This category will rate how suitable the breakfast might be to serve to overnight guests.

4.  Sustainability:  It can be a long time to lunch and not all breakfasts are created equal.  This category will rate how well the meal got us through our morning.

5.  Overall:  Add all those Cheerios up and you get an overall view of how we enjoyed the breakfast and most importantly the likelihood of it making it into our breakfast rotation.
